Let’s define art as pulling something out of nothing. Often that’s how a project seems to develop at the shop; a client will suggest an idea, perhaps something she’s seen somewhere. Or it could begin with, “I just want something to fill this space”. Occasionally I’m asked to replicate some element of the house or structure that, amplified, will add beautifully to the whole. However these projects begin, the pleasure and delight in building these pieces is shared by the client, and then others.

We’ve used the entire spectrum of metals here, as well as rock and wood. Most satisfying is when others’ talents are brought in to add features and qualities not envisaged at the outset. Those who’ve worked ¬†with me may often have heard the maxim, “never say no”. ¬†These sculptures are some of the results of our open-ended approach.
